This was a crime of violence, in which the life of a young man was destroyed, said Mr Justice Cornish in the Auckland Supreme Court, yesterday, when sentencing a Maori, William Martin, aged 21, to two years' reformative detention on a charge .of manslaughter. The charge arose out of a fracas between pakohas and Maoris at Pakotai, North Auckland, in April, when William Arnesen_ was killed by a stono which struck him on the head. —Press Assn.
