ORDERS BEING OBEYED
BOUGAINVILLE MOVEMENTS. (Rec. 12.50 p.m.) SYDNEY, Aug. 22. Japanese troops are obeying the surrender orders given to them by the Australian commander on Bougainville (General Savige). Large bodies of Japanese have been observed moving back to the prearranged assembly points behind their lines. The surrender orders were sent to the Japanese commander (General Kanda) through his envoy. H.M.A.S. Lithgow has now left to bring General Kanda to Australian headquarters at Torokina.
