TIMBER WORKERS RESUME

(P.A.) GREYMOUTH August 20. Members of the Westland Timber Workers' Union did not work today, the executive having directed the cessation of operations until such time as the Arbitration Court should complete the pending award and should include extra payment for wet time. The Act-ing-Minister of Labour (Mr O'Brien), however, intervened immediately with a proposal that the men resume on Wednesday and that if the award did not provide wet time payment there 'would be a meeting convened between the union and employers to effect an amicable wet time settlement for the approval of the Government. Mr O'Brien's proposal was tonight accepted by the union _ executive following an earlier meeting of the Minister with the union and employers' representatives.
