TOLL OF ANTI-SEMITISM
TWO-FIFTHS OF ALL JEWRY. (Rec. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, August 20. "Mankind was ' shocked to speechlessness by the news of the dropping of atomic bombs on Japanese cities, but the atomic bombs destroyed onlv one-tenth of tho number of Jews Hitler killed since 1933." said Dr Stephen Wise, president of the World Jewish Congress. "Two-fifths of all Jewry, nearly G. 000.000 men, women and children, were butchered. Anti-semitism, which is the most subtle and provocative weapon of all for those who would destroy freedom, is in itself an atomic bomb. We demand the opening of Palestine's doors to the homeless remnants of our people." The General Secretary of the Arab League (Azzam Bey), commenting m Alexandria on President_ Truman's I speech advocating Jewish immi- | gration for Palestine, predicted ja "holy crusade" between the East and the West if tho Jews were encouraged in the hope of a national ihome in Palestine. "We know and I Britain knows that there is no space lin Palestine for immigration. Thereifore, it is useless again to prepare the way for Jewish immigration."
