On the recommendation of Mr William KapclJ, the American pianist, Richard Farrell, tlie 18-year-old New Zealand pianist, lias been awarded a scholarship with Mr Kapell’s teacher, Madame Samaroff Stokowski, in the United States, She is holding scholarships open both at the Juilliard School of Music in New York and at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. “Farrell is• extraordinarily gifted,” said Mr Kapell, “and it is most important that he should get to America immediately.” Mr Eugene Ormondy is also greatly impressed by Farrell’s talents and has endorsed Mr Kapell’s recommendation.
