DOMINION CONFERENCE
There were 40 representatives from both islands present at a conference of river and drainage boards held at Hamilton this week. It was resolved that the next annual meeting of the New Zealand River and Drainage Boards’ Association he held at Palmerston North. The six drainage boards in the Palmerston North area were represented by Mr F. J. Foster, of the Sluggish .River Drainage Board. It was pointed out that there was no provision for representation on catchment boards of rivei or drainage boards, though both the latter groups lmd representation on the Soil Conservation and Rivers Control -Council. It was unanimously resolved that catchment boards should be urged not to abolish the classification basis of rating on land for general purposes.
