Ottawa. —The Minister of Labour announced that call-ups for military service have been suspended from VE-Day. Arrangement? will bo made for the enrolment of volunteers for the Pacific, Ottawa. —The Navy Minintcr announced that 44 officers and ratings were killed or are missing 'as a result of the torpedoing and sinking of the Canadian minesweeper Esqunnalt off the Canadian oust coast last month. ' Twenty-four warships of;the Royal Australian Navy are serving with the British Pacific Fleet. The ships comprise six destroyers, and 18 corvettes. Other Australian warships are serving under American control in the SouthWest Pacific. All the destroyers and most of the corvettes now allotted to the British Pacific Fleet had previously served with the British Eastern Fleet.
