Mr H. Christmas (chairman of direcI tors) presided at a meeting of the board !of the Palmerston North Co-operative Building Society. The successful shareholders in ballots for free-of-interest loans were: Mr L. O. Jones, £SOO in Group 11; and Mr K. W. Croll, £SOO in Group 13. Business was conducted in all groups. A ballot for, the return of subscriptions in No. 8 group was arranged for. the next meeting. The following applications for loans were approved:—Group 11, £7CC; Group 12, £500; 'general department, £3OO, £SOO and £IOOO. Two of these loans were for the erection of new dwellings. It was reported that Group 14 had opened for subscriptions on March 5 and that the number of shares allotted at date was most satisfactory; it is anticipated that the group will be fully subscribed at an early date.
