Y.W.C.A. WELCOME
A social evening held at the Y.W.G.A. Central Club on Wednesday gave Miss H. Williamson, the new general secretaiy, a.ll opportunity of meeting members of the board and the committee and representatives of the various clubs. Tall jars of hydrangeas and bowls of scarlet geraniums arranged by Mrs T. P. Hart lent additional charm to the rooms. The programme, arranged by Miss L. Richards, was carried through quite informally, those present being paired olf lo introduce each other to Miss Williamson and inlimate their particular connection with the association. Games, competitions and group acting were enjoyed, as were pianoforte solos by Mr C. Small. Mrs G. A. Small (president of the board) and her associates performed the ‘‘initiation” ceremony of the new secretary, who was later presented by Airs Small with a basket of flowers. Stating that it .was her first experience of a Y.W.G.A. initiation ceremony, Miss Williamson thanked everyone for the welcome accorded her, the warmth of which had made her realise more than ever that they were all part of a great fellowship. Every individual member made the Y.W.C.A. what it was, and with the help of them all she hoped to make it continue to grojv and take a greater part in the life of the community.
