BOWLING
PAIRS TOURNAMENT
In spite of the adverse weather play in the Manawatu Bowling Centre's pairs tournament was continued on the Northern, Manawatu, and Terrace End greens this morning. It was intended to commence play at Hokowhitu this afternoon. The fifth round was entered upon, it having been decided to play the fourth round, which in some sections has not been completed, after the eighth is finished. The results of the games, which were of 12 ends each, are as follow: SECTION A (Terrace End Green). Fifth round.—Anderson (Terrace End) 14 v. Lovelock (Northern) 9; Christenson (Palmerston North) 12 v. Swangcr (Manawatu) 9; Campbell (Palmerston North) 12 v. Davis (Waircre) 10; King (Terrace End) 13 v. Ramsay (Takaro) 7; Tingey (Feilding) 14 v. Lovett (Hokowhitu) 6. SECTION B (Terrace End Green). This round was to have been played at Takaro, but' owing to the condition of the green was transferred to Terrace End. Fifth round —Taylor (Manawatu) 21 v. Reav (Takaro) 4; Johnson (Palmerston 'North) 10 v. Currie (Terrace End) 9 ; Baddlcy (Gonvillc) 12 v. King (Manawatu) 5; A. Smith (Takaro) 13 v. Davidson (Terrace End) 9; Rosonoski (Feilding) 13 v. Hancock (Hokowhitu) 2. SECTION C (Northern Green). Fifth round.—Connor (Manawatu) 15 v. Itoss (Northern) 7; Cogswell (Manawatu) 17 v. Eaglesome (Hokowhitu) 3, A. 13. Smith (Wairoa) 17 v. Kosvall (Palmerston North) 9; Locke (Terrace End) 15 v. Raisin (Takaro) 8; Wenham (Feilding) 14 v. Bailey 'Hokowhitu) 5. . SECTION E (Manawatu Green). Fifth round.—Cole (Hokowhitu) 13 v. Wood (Palmerston North) 12; Dixon (Terrace End) won by default from Tantrum (Manawatu); Fishei (Takaro) won by default from Woods (St. John's); Lovelock (Hokowhitu) won by default from Boswell (Oroua) ; E. Smith (Takaro) won by default from Fitzgibbons (Waverley) ; Ham blyn (Northern) won by default from H'ealy (Gonville). Sixth round.—Wood 18 v. Dixon 12; Lovelock won by default from Fitzgibbons; Smith won by default from Tantrum; Cole won by default from Kealy; Fisher won by default from Boswell; Hamblyn won by default from Woods. RINKS TOURNAMENT.
It was expected to continue postsection play in the rinks tournament at 2 p.m. this afternoon on the Palnierston North Club's greens.
