WHAKARONGO

(From Our Own Correspondent.) There was a fair attendance at the December meeting of the Women's Institute, Mrs Eagle presiding. Mrs Newcombo road the balance-sheet for the flower show which was considered excellent, and Mrs Oxenbam congratulated the committee on its effort. Mrs Johansen gave a report on the garden circle and announced a flower show -would bo held by tho circle in March. It was decided to send a gift of money to the next-of-kin for prisoners of war, and to write a letter of sympathy to Mrs Closcy whose son has been wounded. A letter from Ray Thorburn was road in appreciation of parcels received. Sprays wore presented to the president, secretary, and treasurer by Mrs Johansen who conveyed the season's greetings. An "ankle parade" caused much amusement and a humorous vocal item by Mesdamcs Morris and Frith -was much enjoyed. Competitions resulted:— Cluster: Miss Speedy 1, Mrs Henricksen 2, Mesdamcs Clark and Morgan 3. Sinsrle bloom: Mesdamcs F. Smith 1, Henricksen 2, Johansen 3. Hostesses were Mesdamcs Morgan, Wood, and McMurray. Mrs Eagle conveyed season's greetings to all members. Mr and Mrs P. Cater, of Auckland, are staying with the hitter's parents. Mr and Mrs R. Christianson. Private E. J. Wood is spending a. few days' leave with his parents, Mr and Mrs Wood.
