SCATTERED RAINS IN N.S.W.
NO REAL DROUGHT BELIEF. (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, Dec. 22.
Only disappointing scattered rains have 'fallen in New South Wales during the past 24 hours. The State is still firmly in the grip of the drought, and the divisional meteorologist, Mr Mares, said today that there was no sign of immediate relief. Freshening winds have the dust storms, which have raged intermittently during the past six weeks. The dust haze again extends far out across the Tasman Sea, impairing visibility over a large area.
