From a galloping start, Theiorist (Andrew secured an early advantage over Matawene and held it to the pout to return 1.6 for five lurlongs. Aristocrat and Merger were sent over a mile, doing the distance in 1.50 1-5, the last three furlongs in 42 l-ssec Gala Song (Kwan) and Mary Jo (Nichols) moved well throughout a sevenlurlong trial in 1.35, the last three taking (40 2-sscc. Foxcover, alone, worked over seven furlongs in 1.37 1-5, the last three in 42 1-5 *.ec.

Golden Tide (Bowry), Greenfeast (Midwood), and Man's Pride (Bowness), who joined in at the seven-furlong peg, finished on terms* et the end of a mile run in 1.50 2-5.

A good gallop went to the credit of Hakim (Pearce), Alchemy (Kendall), and •Magic Art (Buchanan), who covered a mile in 1.48 1-5, the last three furlongs in 41 2-ssec.

In a similar task, a northern visitor in Valley Boy was showing out from Lady Spiral at the end of a mile done in 1.49, the last three furlongs taking 41 l-ssec. Tararua (Buchanan) and Vernon (Kendall) galloped six furlongs in 1.23. Gardane (Kendall) and Sunola (Buchanan) ran seven furlongs in 1.38 4-5, the last three in 41 4-ssec.

Sterling Lad (Buchanan) ran six furlongs in 1.20 4-5 and did it well. On the plough, Maid of Dunlc* (Stevens) beat Foxbridge Bay (Boreham) in a dash over three furlongs in 40 4-ssec. . The leading trotting trainer, F. J. Smith, of Auckland, who was injured last Saturday at the South Auckland Trotting Club's meeting when Bluestock fell, has left bosmtal and returned to his home. It is understood that his jaw was dislocated, not fractured. He is making good progress. Man's Pride and Stony ' Broke were wrongly entered in the Bolton Handicap at the Woodville meeting, and they should be in the Borough Handicap. In the Metropolitan Handicap at Riccarton on Saturday W. J. Broughlon will ride Tara King. As 11. Wiggins is required for Typhoon, W. F. Ellis will ride Kevin.

S. Waddell will have the mount on Flying Ace in the Members' Handicap at Riccarton.

It is understood that Bonny Flight's mission on Saturday will be the Members' Handicap. Because of shipping restrictions, neither Shining Night nor Kiaree, nominated by M. McCarten for the Auckland Cup, will now make the trip to New Zealand. Bridge Acre will have a change ot rider this week in the Oaks. Wiggins, wh^

Happy Man, 36yds bhd., has been admitted as an acceptor in the King George Handicap at the Forbury Park meeting under rule 289 of the Rules of Trotting which eovors non-delivery at the closing of acceptanco of a letter notifying acceptance and posted 60 hours before such closing time.
