HOKOWHITU STOP-BANK
A deputation from the Manawatu Golf Club, comprising Messrs B. 15. Koiller" (chairman). N. A. Nash and W. M.. Horton, waited on the Palmerston. North River Board to-day in connection with a proposed section of the board*? stop-bank system, which will run across the club's property. . Mr Kni'ler «aid that the flub wished tc help as much as it could in the matter. Mr Horton said that if the board built the section of the stop-bank in the proposed position one of the holes on the golf course would be spoilt, and, consequently, the course itself would also be spoilt. However, if three acres of the military reserve adjoining the course could be bought from .the authorities, and a hole made on that area, the course would still be'complete. Trustee Hopcroft. pointed out that the board was not taking any immediate steps to build the hank. A temporary bank, to which the club had-no objection, had been built. ; , • It was agreed that the board "should meet the deputation on the golf course this afternoon to, di I'-iss-the matter on the spot.
