PLUNKET SOCIETY

Mrs G. C. Peterson, who presided at the monthly meeting of the Palmerston North branch of the Plunket Society, ported on discussions with the West End Progressive Association regarding visits by a Plunket nurse to that area. The total amount raised by the Plunket appeal made recently was £513 13s 7d. The president reported that a date in July had been decided upon for the Plunket ball. An appeal for assistance with the Merchant Navy street day was received from the Minesweepers' Comforts Circle. The balance-sheet was presented by the secretary (Mrs M. Aitchison) and adopted. The Plunket nurse (Miss K. 11. Thomas) reported that visits to tho office totalled 1831 (adults 912, babies 831, and older children 88) while 192 visits had been paid to homes. There were 34 new cases in Palmerston North and two in Foxton. Flowers for the rooms had been received f>-om Mesdames Kirk, Hansen, McColl, Lovegrove, Davlick; Lawson, McGregor, Sullivan, and Schu'ltz. Preschool children had been examined during, the last two months by the school doctor (Dr Anderson). Four visits had been paid! to Foxton, where visits to the office were adults 73, babies 66, and older children 6, a total of 145. Five visits had been made to homes. Sales amounted to £6 10s 6d, there was £2 13s 5d in the collection box, and donations amounted to £4 lis, making a total of £l3 14s lid. -
