TERRORISM IN FRANCE
LONDON, Jan. 1. L if'lit on the extent of patriots’ activities throughout France is thrown by a Vichy radio announcement beginning: “The Government has resolved to fight with increasing vigour against the banditry and terrorism which continues to show itself iu our towns and villages in a most odious manner causing widespread unrest.” Changes in' security personnel have been made “for the purpose of showing the Government’s wish to maintain order and spare the country the horrors of civil war with which it is threatened.'’ The changes included the creation of the post of Secretary of State to which M. M. Lcinoine has boon appointed. M. Darnand, Secretary-General'of Militia, has boon appointed Secretary of State for the Maintenance of Order.
