THE AIR WAR
NAZIS’ DANGEROUS FACTOR. (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, Jan. 2, Diplomatic circles in Berlin, summarising the war during 1943, told a neutral correspondent that the air war was at present the most dangerous: factor for Germany, says the Gazette de Lausanne. The air raids in 1943 had had an enormous effect on the industrial potential and economic organisation and the people’s morale. Diplomatic circles believe that the Allied air offensive will lead to a decision, unless the Germans soon take counter-action, adds the paper. The. Battle of Stalingrad changed the course of tlio war. The opening of the Mediterranean front did not produce the consequences Berlin feared, and the balance in the south of Italy is still regarded ns favourable. The majority of Germans still refuse to admit that defeat is inevitable and continue to hope for a compromise peace.
