MOST OF GERMAN FRONT,

Most of the German front from Korostcn to Byelaya Volykove seems for the time being to be in a state of flux as General Vatutin’s armies drive on west and south. Sixty per cent, of the German effectives were put out of action by the Russian artillery in the first day of the offensive, according to a Moscow message. On the eighth .day enemy wreckage in the path of the Russian advance is still growing in profusion. Once again it reported that German reinforcements on their way to the front are being engaged by advanced Russian mobile columns before they can be deployed effectively for counter-attacks. The Moscow radio reports that a Stalingrad factory which wa's producing tinned food had been put into operation again and lias produced its first 1000 jars of tinned food. —Official Wireless. The Moscow radio says that more than 10,000 houses and about- 1000 blocks, of flats have been built in Stalingrad since the city was liberated.
