BIG BRAWL AT BONDI
(Rec. 12.15 SYDNEY, Dec. 29 Sixteen civilians and 15 soldiers were arrested in a brawl lasting an hour at Bondi, involving nearly people as well as a considerable number of military, and civilian police. When the military police attempted to arrest three soldiers on charges ot desertion, civilians interfered. The police state that there were at least 50 separate fights at one stage. One arrested man had almost every piece of clothing torn from his body, knd ho was placed in a military truck wearing only his shoes and socks, and a number of people were treated for minor injuries, lhe peak traffic in the popular seaside suburb was held up for an hour.
