The death has occurred of Sir Reginald BlomfieM, the architect, at the age of 86 years, states a London cable.
The death has occurred in Sydney of Mr George Jones, formerly a wellknown trainer in Sydney and Melbourne, states a Press Association cable. He went from New Zealand to Australia in 1916 and won the Melbourne Cup with Sasanof. Later he made other trips from New Zealand with Nigger Minstrel, Commendation, and other horses, finally settling in Melbourne where he trained several good performers.
| The Minister of Defence (Mr Jones) announced that Air-Commo-Jdore A. do T. Nevill relieved Air--1 Commodore L. M. Is' x t as air officer commanding R.N.Z.A.IJ. headquarters in London on December 23, and that the latter officer was now returning to New Zealand for duty with the R.N.Z.A.F. Mr Jones remarked that Air-Commodore Isitt had been in England for the past six months, during which he had had close experience in all aspects of air operations and R.A.F. admiystration under war conditions. He had also, taken a leading part in negotiations on the recent revision of the British Commonwealth air training plan, and also in connection with the setting up of new R.N.Z.A.F. headquarters in London.—Press Association
