NAPLES BOMBED AGAIN (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright.) (Bee. 10 a.m.) RUGBY, Dec. 25“There is nothing to report from our land forces, who are in contact with -the enemy near Sirte,” states a Middle East communique.
The principal air operation over the battle area was a flying attack on the landing ground at Hon, where grounded aircraft were destroyed. Tymbake aerodrome (Crete) was successfully bombed on Wednesday night. Naples and Taranto were also attacked. Prom the above operations one of our aircraft is missing.—Official Wireless.
A communique dated December 24 said: “Aerodromes at Crete were successfully attacked during Tuesday night. Yesterday a west-bound merchant vessel was attacked with bombs and cannon fire off the east coast of Tunisia. A direct ffiomb hit midships resulted in explosions and fires. An escorting enemy aircraft was shot down. All our aircraft returned.”
