MAILS FOR CHINA
(Press Assn.) WELLINGTON. Dec. 26. The Postmaster-General (Mr Webb) stated to-day that advice had been received from the Indian Post Office that arrangements had been made for surface mails for free Chma to bo despatched via Persia and the. U.S.S.R. Such mails at present are being restricted to unregistered correspondence. For some time surface mails for free China have been held up in India for want of means of onward despatch, the Minister added. Airmail letters for despatch partly by surface and partly by air were still being accepted for free China, but it was essential that the charges be fully prepaid.
