AWAPUNI TRACK WORK. (By "Spectator.") Rain which set in in the early hours this morning continued during the track work at Awapuni and made conditions very unpleasant. 'Phc track was in good order, but began to cut up a little as the work progressed. It will take a good deal more rain, however, to make it heavy. The poles were over 30 feet out on the course proper and a good deal of useful work was accomplished without anything outstanding in the way of times. Sterling Lad (Paul) opened proceedings with a three furlong dash in 42seo and was followed by Camp Maid (Gill) who took 1.24 for six furlongs, the last three in 43sec. Theolatcral (A. Waddell) was to have gone five furlongs, but he swung round and set off the reverse wav. His young rider wisely lot him bowl along. High Class (Bo wry) recorded 1.9 for five furlongs with Colenra (S .Waddell) going a second better. Alchemy (A. Waddell) worked nicely over a round, coining homo the last throe furlongs in 43sec. Kol Ragi (Campbell) was not asked to extend hunself over five furlongs in 1.10. The lliccarton pair, Nightglass (Ewan) and Cheap Lodging (S. Waddell), went well over seven furlongs in 1.36, the last three in 42 3-ssoc. Bcscuc went away clear of Glad Fox and ran half a mile in 53 2-sscc. The latter is an unlikely runner on Saturday. Kaitoa (Dowry) could have improved on the 1.11 it took her to run five furlongs, a distance which Donegal Bav (Ewan) and Stairway traversed in 1.7. Aspen slipped over three furlongs in 41scc and Sea Quox (Mallowcs) followed over half a mile in sfcspc Kinsman (Sellars) was too good for Moderate (Pcarcc) at the end of seven furlongs in 1.39 1-5, the last thrco in 43 l-sscc. Damask (Dowry) did a round in 1.65, the last three furlongs in 42sec and looks well. , _ The two-vear-olds Benares ano Barrosa ran half a mile in 55 l-ssoc. Ihe former mav not run on Saturday. Caroline Bay '(Bowry) had Happy Ending (Sellars) as a companion over five iurlongs done in 1.7 3-5. G advnev ifa. Waddell) was on terms with Salver over a similar distanco in 1.9. .. Classform (Ewan) was sent a mile which she accomplished in 1.53, the last three furlongs in 43see. She looks well. Among others to got through strong work were St. Fclicicn, kalmranaki, Ivar, and Yogi. The Grand National Steeplechase winner Foxiana has returned to work under L G.
