FEILDING NEWS
Squadron-Leader and Mrs P. K. Fowler, of Auckland, are visiting relatives in the Feildiug and Marton district. The old Feilding Post Office is to be demolished early in the New Year. A contract has been lot for the job of demolishing the structure and clearing the land, and it is expected that the work will he put in hand towards the end of January. Captain K. "Wild, son of Mr and Mrs T; J Wild, of the Feilding Agricultural High School, has been mentioned in despatches for his work in the field over many months ot active service. He recently attended the Middle East Staff College and lias received the appointment ot staff captain to one of the brigades. Indications are that the parcel postings for this festive season are iiot so heavy as in previous years On the other hand, the letter mail appears heavier and tolls and telegrams have been heavy compared with other years. The drop in the parcel postings is attributable to the rrenerar shortage of goods and to the rationing scheme which has restricted certain forms of Christmas gilt buying.
