Chungking.—Mr Wendell Willkie’s visit to Chungking coincided with a freak heat spell. A Foreign Office official attached to Mr Willkie gasped when lie entered tho office and found him sitting nakf>l at his desk preparing a statement. Before leaving for an undisclosed destination, Mr Willkie conferred with Marshal Cliiang Kai-shek for the fifth time.
