HEAVY DAMAGE DONE

OSNABRUCK BOMBED CONCENTRATED ATTACK LONDON, Oct. 7. A strong force of R.A.F. bombers mads a concentrated attack last night on Osnabruck, in North-West Germany. The Berlin radio admits that heavy damage was caused. This was the fourth raid on Germany in the first six days of this month. Osnabruck, with 90,000 inhabitants, is an important war factory centre and also one of the key centres of the railway system in NorthWest Germany. This was the 42nd attack on t,h6 city. Six of tho bombers failed to return.

England had a quiet night, but to-day the enemy raided a town on the south-east coast, where bombs were dropped and streets were machinegunned. The Germans have not been over Britain at night since September 26. The Air Minister (Sir Archibald Sinclair) disclosed in the House of Commons that 1082 bombers have been reported lost over Germany in the last nine months, says the Official Wireless.
