CHURCH'S WARTIME PLAN
(9.5 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 6. Pope Pius has conferred on the American Catholic Church for the first time in its history the power to function as a sacred Roman Rota, which is the church's highest judicial tribunal. This authority has been granted for threo years because of difficulties of wartime communications between American and the Vatican.
The great bulk of Rota cases involve questions of matrimonial validity. These will now be decided in America.
