CHINESE TRAIN IN INDIA

(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 5. Several thousand Chinese arc training near the eastern frontier in preparation for fighting their way hack to China, says Reuter’s- correspondent from somewhere in Eastern India. United States army officers are instructing the Chinese in the use of the most modern equipment, including improved 75 mm. howitzers, 50 mm. mortars, heavy ma-chine-guns, Bren guns, and tommyguns. One unit, escaping from Burma, was caught by a monsoon and saved by its own endurance, plus about 170 tons of food which were dropped from Allied planes. The last hig batch of Chinese troops from Burma arrived as recently as the last fortnight.
