EXTRACTS FROM "STANDARD." SEPTEMBER 28, 1912.
The Industrial Corporation at Wellington had expressed its displeasure at sonO; of the immigrants being sent to this country, a number being ill and infirm, and of no use towards the development of the country's industry. British and French troops were landed at Adrianoplo to protect their consulates, as 200.000 Turkish troops had been massed near the city, and it was feared that fighting might develop. British Cabinet Ministers were being "shepherded" by detectives as a guard against the move violent type of suffragette. Mrs Pankhurst bad announced her intention of returning to London from Paris to continue with the campaign, but it was understood that a police warrant waited her in England. Twelve thousand doctors had gone on strike in Britain because of their reluctance to conform with the Insurance Act.
