FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. The Minister in charge of the Soldiers’ Financial Assistance Board (Mr Armstrong) announces the decision to widen the scope of the board’s assistance to enable women recruited by the W.W.S.A. for fulltime service in the Armed Forces to apply for assistance .This means that women in the Armed Services are placed on exactly the same footing as men in regard to assistance by the board. Assistance will be granted towards meeting necessary reasonable current commitments which cannot be met from military pay, but no assistance will be granted towards commitments of the luxury type or towards payments on account of debts existing at the time of enlistment.
