WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
Tho executive meeting of the Manawatu Federation of Women’s Institutes, at which Airs T. D. Lynch presided, was held at the Y.M.C.A.-Y.W.C.A. rooms. Correspondence included Miss _ Jerome Spencer’s acceptance of the invitation to attend tho combined council meetings of the Manawatu and Oroua Federations in October. The Bunnythorpe institute wrote agreeing to undertake hostess duties at the council meeting. An appeal from the co-ordinating committee of the Women’s Division and Women’s Institutes for all members to join the “Crusade for Victory” was before the meeting. Tho treasurer (Mrs 11. V. Caverhill) presented tho financial statement. _ Airs W. G. Short (Cheltenham), president .of the Oroua Federation, attended to discuss arrangements for the joint council meeting to mark the coming-of-age of the movement in the Dominion and to honour the founder, Aliss Spencer. An appeal was made for col’cctoi'6 to assist in tho sale of badges to aid funds for the Manawatu branch of the Crippled Children Society.
