SERVICE APPEALS
Appeals by soldiers against overseas service were heard in the course of u sitting of the Armed Forres Appeal Board in Palmerston North. In some cases only a postponement was sought, to suit family circumstances. In others, appellants were below the age of 21 and were under the belief that all soldiers, whatever their age, were liable to go overseas. Some other appellants did not wish to go overseas as they were able to assist their wives and families in leave periods. In these instances four or five children were cited in the family. The following were tho board’s determinations: —M. L. Robinson, not to be called before December 31; A. W. Bayford, dismissed: L. S. Barsanti, not to be called beforo February 28, 1943; W. D. Cantwell, oversaas service adjourned sine die; E. A Finn, dismissed; D. 11. Reynolds, dismissed; E. L. Williams, not to bo called before December 31 A. Wong, not to serve outside New Zealand; 11. J. Gibbons, not to serve outside New Zealand; J. Douglas-Watson (Mr Onglcy), not to bo called before October 15: W. Thomson, not to b<? called for overseas service; D. T. Waugh, not to bo called before December 31; C. A. Renwick, dismissed; E. G. Sutherland, adjourned sine die. not to go overseas in the meantime.
