EXCELLENT GALLOP. PREMATURE AND OLD BILL. (By "Spectator.") An excellent gallon over seven furlongs by Premature (S. Waddell) and Old Bill (Stewart) was the chief feature of the work at Awapuni this morning. They kept together throughout, but at tho post Premature held the advantage and was going well. Under tho conditions ruling it was a good effort. The course proper was used for the fast work, with tho poles halfway across the track. While not heavy, the track was inclined to cut up and consequently times generally were slow.'

Cartoonist (Broughton) worked solidly over a rourio, Kanui to Pai being allotted a similar task. Caroline Bay (Redstone) cantered round to tho three-furlong peg and canio homo in 42seo. This filly is very well. Scgra (broughton) was under a restraint when running seven furlongs in 1.50. L. Knapp will take this hurdler and Hanover to Auckland on Tuosday. A smart gallop was that registered by Lady Virginia (fc>. Waddell) and Nighean (Slcwaul), tho pair being together at the end of live furlongs run in 1.9 4-5. Parrish Uuecn (A. Waddell) canio homo from (ho half-mile barrier in 50=ec, doing it nicely. Enlarge (Broughton) was quite at home in the going when ho dashed over thrco furlongs in 43sec. He is a nice galloper. Stairway (Uowry) had Kinsman (Slowart) as a companion when they ran 6oveu furlongs in 1.44. Stairway went well, but Kinsman was limping slightly afterwards.

j G. W. Ncw's pair, Rink (S. Waddell) and Tau-Uru (Bowry), could havo done better than the 1.11 3-5 it took them to run five furlongs, Tho latter is holding his condition well. Saint Tor (Stewart) ■was not after time when allowed to bowl along over live furlongs in 1.13. The two-yoar-olds Jrish Fox (Broughton) and Sir Bradbury (S. Waddell) had little difficulty in registering 59sec. for half a mile. Both are promising. Greek Idol and Pilot Bay were together throughout a threefurlong dash which took 44scc. Teddy Lack (Rae) was given a turn over the hurdles and he jumped well,. negotiating six fences cleverly. Hapten (Temperton), who shows promise as a hurdler, was sent twico round the schooling hurdles and gavo a sound display. Another recruit to hurdling Elusary ('J emperlon) pleased by the manner in which he jumped three fences.

A. Jenkins has been engaged to ride Clarion Call and Foxiana in their engagements at Ellorslie. Foxiana looks improved as a result of his race on Saturday, but little is known a.bout Clarion Call, who is now being trained by F. C. McUugh at Mar ton. High Class was amongst those to do pace work this morning. Ho is carrying plenty of condition after a spell. Tho leading horseman, W. J. Broughton, will be present on the first day of the

Fcilding meeting and will afterwards go south to Riccarton, where two of his mounts on Easter Monday will bo Kenlucky and Broadcaster.
