MAN-POWER COMMITTEE
Appeals against military service, or for the postponement of service, were heard by the Man-Power Committee, sitting in Palmerston North to-day. Mr T. L. Seddon presided and there were associated with him Messrs J. C. Young and C. R. Murphy. The following were the decisions of the committee: — , _ _, ■_. , „ J H. McSwocney and F. E. Edgecombe, carpenters, of Palmerston North, appeals hv Director of National Service for postp'enement; not to bo called up for two months J. J. Pinfold, transport driver and etorcrnan, appeal by Bunnythorpc Stores, Ltd. (Mr F. J. Oakley), for postponement until June s 3O; decision reserved J A Millar, carpenter, of Palmerston North, appeal by G. A. Anderson and Son (Mr G C. Petersen): adjourned until Mav 31. J. W. J. I'hornley farmcr of A»hhuret. appeal by FR. r horn lev (Mr F. J. Oakley) reservist called tor duration service; to be transferred to the Territorial Force for training in May, June, and July. . . The committee pavo its reserved decision regarding an appeal by the A wall ur i Dairy C'ompanv for its secretary, T. K. I'ra.-cr, Mr Oaklcv appearing for the company. The appeal was enpoorted by the «° me finard, reservist, bcirnr adjutant, of the Takaro Battalion. Those representations were regarded bv the committee ns irrelevant, as thev dealt with the form of militarv service to be rendered. The decision staled that acMvc stop* tho>;icl have been taken bv the company to rcp.ace rc-ervist and the decision w."s that reservist be made available, but the committee would allow until August 31 for adjustments to be made, reservist not to be called up until then.
