RELEASE URGED
(Press Assn.) AUCKLAND, Mar. 26. Tho freezing works at Westfield carried on to-day with voluntary labour and some regu/ar workers who presented themselves for re-employment. There was only a limited number of the latter, however, as notifications had gone out that the company would notify each man, as wanted, within the 14 days provided in the agreement for full resumption. The management consider all men will be re-engaged by early next week. A telegram was forwarded bv the Federation of Labour to the Prime Minister last evening, as follows: "The formula for strike settlement agreed to between tho Trades Council and the freezing companies was accepted by a meeting of workers to-day, work to be resumed forthwith. In view of the impossibility of.obtaining full production without tho services of the men now undergoing prison sentences a-rising from the strike, the Trades Council strongly urges their release as they are needed in the industry for essential war work. The employers are prepared to confirm this statement."
