LIGHTING REGULATIONS

(Piess Assn.) INVISIK.ARGILU Mar. 25. After hearing much evidence the Magistrate (Mr R.*C. Abernethy) reserved his decision in a case heard jti the lnvercargill Magistrate's Court in which Edward Vincent McKecver, manager of the Regent Theatre, was charged with a breach of the Lighting Regulations during a recent black-out rehearsal in the city. The Magistrate said that the case was of some importance because it concerned the duties of wardens as well a*,' those of householders and business people. It was also in the nature of a test case and he would deliver his judgment the following morning. Counsel for the defence (Mr L. F. Moller) said that the .egulation under which the charge was laid was open to two interpretations. One was that no light at all should be visible from lie outside of the building. The other interpretation was that a light might be displayed in the building provided the radius of illumination was wholly within the building and did not go beyond the building.
