SINGAPORE ESCAPE
SYDNEY, March 24
The Japanese claim to have captured in Sumatra 600 British soldiers who had escaped from Singapore. The Jar>ancse Domci agency announces that Allied trops are still holding out in the north of Sumatra. News has reached Australia that the scattered forces of the Netherlands East Indies Army are still holding out against the Japanese. These iorces are in Central Sumatra, Central Borneo and parts of the Celebes.
