DISASTER AVERTED
SYDNEY, March 24
Bursting into flames as the train was tearing over tbo country, two carriages on the express bound to Melbourne from Sydney were destroyed near Albury to-day. A passenger noticed the flames in time to avert a major disaster, pulled the communication cord and stopped the train, from which rushed men and women in night attire. Many lost all their belongings. The whole train was threatened by the spreading blaze, Out the passengers pushed the two rear carriages to safety and the locomotive shifted the front section of the train.
