ROSEMARY CLUB
The members and friends of the Rosemary Club (soldiers’ wives)yassembled at the clubroom recently to enjoy afternoon tea, in celebration of the official opening of the club. The room, a spacious sunny one overlooking the Square gardens, has been put at the disposal of the members through the generosity of Mrs W. B. Tennent, and will provide a most comfortable meeting place. Before commencing proceedings Rev. D. de Candole read a prayer which ho had specially written for the club. Mrs J. C. Riddle, president, •welcomed members and visitors and expressed the hope that members would enjoy many happy hours together. Special thanks were given to those who had prepared the room and provided the furniture and necessary fittings. Mrs W. A. Jacques, patroness, opened the club, and gave a brief address on tlie meaning of the word “rosemary.” Mrs Viles called for a vote of thanks to Mrs Tennent, this being carried by acclamation. The visitors gave cheers for the club, and afternoon tea was served. Apologies for absence were received from Mr and Mrs W. B. Tennent and Mr J. Hodgens, M.P.
