RANGITIKEI.
At a meeting- of the i\larton branch of the ltcd Cross Society it was decided to hold a shop day during August to raise funds for the provision of parcels for prisoners of war. The proceeds will go to Dominion headquarters, although the parcels are packed in London under the Joint Council of the Order of St.. John and the
lied Cross Society. The parcels coni onto are selected with a view lo supplying deficiencies in diet. The convener of the sewing sub-committee, Miss B. Crooke, reported that a case containing hospital shirts, bed capes, bed jackets and bandages had boon sent to headquarters. Miss I. Crooke reported that a number of voluntary aids were helping in turn at Nga Tawa School. At the weekly shoot of the Marion Miniature Rifle. Club Mr P. FrieUrick’s Cup was won- by C. Hamer, the A button by J. Hammond, the B by C. Hamer and the C by L>. Anderson. The best scores were: W Rankin 158, J. Hammond, C. Hamer 135, L. Morgan 134, C. Gower, A. Clark, R Hammond 133. Fairly extensive damage to a car was done on Saturday when it came into collision with a young horse near Marton. The driver of the car was Mr Kl Ncwlands, of Palmerston North. The passengers were I unhurt, hut the front left-hand headlamp was smashed, the windscreen shattered, and the front mudguard dented.
