VALEDICTORY PARTY.

The committee of the Palmerston North branch of the British Music Society entertained Dr. and Airs P. R. McMahon at the residence of the president, Dr. F. H. AleDowall, Worcester Street., last evening, prior to their departure for Christchurch, where Dr. McMahon will join a former Alassey College associate, Professor C. P. MeAlcekan, in research work at Lincoln College. Dr. AleDowall presented AI rs McMahon with a handsome vase on behalf of the society, and eulogised her splendid service as secretary. Thanks were also conveyed to Dr. AlcAlahon for his practical interest and help to the society, with good wishes for happiness in their new sphere. Mrs AlcAlahon. in returning thanks, said she had enjoyed the work and regretted breaking a happy association.
