EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD,” JULY 23. 1911. At a meeting in London of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund it was stated that the disease was caused through chronic irritation with any part of the body. X-ray in a great number of cases had. cured cancer , on animals and this gave confidence in tlie : discovery of curative methods. Th e King’s Prize for rifle shooting, at Bisley had been won by a Canadian, Private Clifford, with a score of 319. Hay 1 was the closest New Zealander, being four-j (couth with a score of 503. flic 1000 mile air race round Britain for the Daily Mail’s £IO.OOO prize had com-] inclined from Brooklands. Seventeen aviators had faced the starter. Two machines crashed at the first stopping place.
