Balgc-ty and L'o., Ltd., report having held the seventh annual sale of Major 11. j A. Wilson's Mahoe pedigree Friesian cat- i tic on July 15. 'J hose cattle came for- | ward in excellent condition and a total clearance of the females was effected and all but two bulls were sold through the ring. Tho 35 two-year-old pedigree Friesian hoifers averaged slightly less than those at last year s sale, but the 17 one and two-year-old Friesian bulls sold met with a keen demand and averaged one guinea over tho price obtained at last year’s sale. The totul of Major M ilson s sale was the highest vet realised for the Mahoe cattle, being £75 in excess of last year’s figures, which up til] now were a record for Major Wilson. Ltd., report having held a most successful unreserved pedigree Friesian sale for Mr J. Callcesen, “Valhalla,” I.ongburn. pn July 16. of the 50 rising 2-ycar-old heifers, and two bulls all bred by’ the Piri Land Company. These cattle came forward in excellent conchtion, were showing well in calf, and were most highly commented on by leading Friesian ’breeders from all over both islands We can safely say that never beforo has there been an opportunity of purchasing cattle of such outstanding brooding and with such great records behind them. Of the £0 heifers purchased by Mr Callqsen last year, all were sold through the ring with the exception Of one which mot with an accident some months ago. Tho total for the sale came to exactly 1600gns for tho 51 head sold, an exact average of 32gns per head. The lop price of the sale was Totara Supremo Trixy by Totara Buftcrcup Supreme, out of that wonderful cow Totara Sylvia Trixy (C.O.R. 8311 b fat, twice Royal champion cow, champion at Auckland, 4 reserve chanipionships, 4 times winner of type and production class, dam of the R' at Show champion Totara Cavalier Taurus). This heifer was purchased by Messrs J - Br °"" and Son, of Invercargill, after strong competition. Mr Ray Griffin.. of Bulls, being the runner-up and the price being 140gns. Another very* good heifer purrhased bv Messrs J. Brown and Son was Totara Supremo Ixta, also by Totara Buttcrcup Supreme dam Totara Vocman Empress (C.O.R. 6361 b fat). In the op.iron of many leading breeders at the sale this hoifer was perhaps the choice of the uh Tarding and was sefarccl at the bid of 62 gns. 1 ntara Supreme Grefehen was purchased bv Mr Griffin at 67rrns.. and tins hoifer was also by Totara Buttercup Supreme. dam Totara , Matador Gretehon (C.0.R.) 6141 b fat and winner of tore 8"d production class Waikato, 1932. Major RA. Wilson, the owner of tlie renowned Mahoe herd, purchased 1 otava Converter Mavis at, 46gns and this heifer should be heard of in the bliow ring next season. while another very stylish heifer which will probably make a show winner was lot 41, purchased at 65gns bv Mr W. H. Cole, of Marton. Messrs C-'ebhio Bros., Todclington, Christchurch, purchased an • ■,-eeed’ne-tv good heifer, To'crn Cedric Gladys, bv To*nra Supremo Ccdr'c. dam Totara Netherlnnd Glad- s '7, C.O R. records over 600 fat up to 697 fat), a wonderfully wet! Tired heifer and mo-t reasonable at 45gns. Totara Defender Fair, another very attractive heifer of which more should be beard, fell to the bid of Mr F. Farmer, Glen Oroua, at 42gns. Among
