(From Our Own Correspondent.) Golfers took advantage of the excellent wea'ber on Saturday, when J. Stewart and J. Old banded in the best cards for the Prst qualifying round. J. Stewart also won the Strickland button from J. Old. Next Saturday the nten will play the second oualifving round in conjunction with a Bennett Cup medal. The ladies will play an L.G.U. ntedal round. On Saturday Mr D. Old (vice-president) took the opportunity of wishing the prosklent (Mr Gerald Cocgin), who is now in camp at Trcntham. the best of luck and a safe return. Air and Airs C. Fames are on a motor tour and will visit Auckland. Rotorua. Gisborne and Napier. Air and .Mrs H. Fairbrother have recently taken up their residence in this district. Mrs F. R. Usmar and Miss J. Shackloton wore recent visitors in this district. Air E. Crosby, inspertor, of the Wanganui Education Board, visited the school last week. Mr Dallison. of Wavcrlcy, spent the week-end with Air and Mrs D. R. Dallison.

The local Home Guard held the last daylight parade for some time owing to till; busy time approaching for farmers with feeding stock and lambing.
