BADGES FOR SERVICE.

SOLDIERS AND SEAMEN. WELLINGTON, July 21. Commenting on the gazetting of comprehensive regulations to control and protect badges which the Government may authorise lor war service—the War Services Badges Emergency Regulations. 1941—the Minister of Defence said that two badges had already been approved by the Government. “The first of these,” lie said, “is the invalided person's badge, which will be issued to personnel invalided through war service from the armed forces and Alerchant Marine. The badge is similar in design to that adopted in the United Kingdom. It is circular and bears a cypher of the Sovereign surrounded by the words, ‘For Loyal Service,’ and is of a pattern easily distinguishable front that issued during the last war. “The second bauge, which will be issued to men serving in the Alerchant Navy, bears the letters ‘AIN’ surmounted by a naval crown. This will serve as recognition of the important part played bv men of the Aferchnnt Navy in maintaining vital supplies.”
