London.—The Home Secretary staff'd that the action in detaining Mr Cahir Healy. a member of the Northern Ireland Parliament, was taken because he had reasonable cause to believe that Mr Healy recently had been concerned in acts prejudicial to the public safety and of the defence of the realm, or in preparation or instigation of such acts, and that by reason of this it was necessary to exercise control over him.
