THEATRE GUIDE

State.— " Tho Navy Steps Out." Designed for laughter, the story of "Tho Navy Stops Out" follows a different pattern with highly satisfactory results. The opening scene introduces soveral of the leading characters in a ludicrous situation and from then on the pace is fast, the characters delightfully wackv, and tho story generously gagged and riotously funny. Gcorgo Murphy, Lucille Ball and Edmond O'Brien aro featured by Producer Harold Lloyd in tho title roles, Murphy casting asido his dancing shoes to do a straight comedy role of a sailor who wants to get married but can't quite make up his mind to say goodbye to the Navy. Lucille Ball's heroino is sympathetic; it's easy to understand why she is in lovo with both men because tho snob, played by Edmond O'Brien, is a swell guy aher ho has been humanised by the girl and tho sailor. Mayfair.— Daily at 2 p.m. and 7.45 p.m.. "Money and (ho Woman." Another wellbalanced two-feature programme is offered for this week-end commencing to-night. Tho film co-stars Jeffrey Lynn and Brenda Marshall in a novel and holding story of murder, robbery and blackmail. Others in tho cast are John Litcl. Leo Patrick, Henry O'Neill and Roger Pryor. Tho second feature provides another hard-riding, action-filled drama of the West in "The Stranger From Texas" with tho popular singing cowboy Charles Slarrctt presenting new Western songs. Lorna Grey co-stars.
