A decision to attempt to arrange representative matches against Wanganui and Manawatu was made at a meeting of the Kangilikti \\ omen’s Hookey Association, "hen Mr \\. G. A. Aitkon presided. Tho secretary was instructed to write to Mrs "■ H. Co.es and expross the association's sympathy in her recent illness. Mr and Mrs R. Horgan were tendered a larewetl social on Monday evening by their friends before leaving fqr Palmerston •North. Jap dances wero given bv Rose Connors, and steel guitar and vccal solo, by Mr R. Walk Icy. Messrs A. Gracio and A. how,or wore M.C.’s and music was supplied by an orchestra. A presentation was made to Mr and Mrs Horgan by Mr S. Andrews, who wished the guests of lionour good luck. There was an attendance of about a hundred persons, including the medical superintendent of the Wanganui Hospital (Dr H L. Wuldowson), the matron (Miss Huntor), and the secretary of the Wanganui centre (Mr It. L. Garden) accompanied hy Mrs Garden, at the official opening of the new rooms of the Marton branch of the lied Cross Society last evening The president of the Marton branch (Mr M. 0l’enwicke)' presided. Reference to the fine work carried out by tho Red Cross Society oicrscas as well as in IN'c w /lealand was made by the ;>alron of tho Marton branch and chairman of the Wanganui centre (Mr F. Purnell). Mr Purnell. in officially declaring the buildings open, paid tribute to tho splendid manner in which the society had worked in with the Marton Patriotic Committee. A demonstration of Red Cross work was given by members following the opening ceremony. ‘
