GARRISON BAND.

A meeting of the Palmerston. North Garrison Band Committee was field last evening, Mr G. Tremaine presiding. A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of the late Mr W. Devine, a vice-president of the band. A donation of £2 2s was received from the combined Wanganui bands’ display committee for services rendered at a display on Easter Sunday. Tho Brass Bands’ Association advised that the annual meeting would be held in August. The matter of representation at the meeting was left in the hands of the chairman and secretary (Mr C. V. Day). Mr Tremaine was re-elected chairman and the 1 finance committee was also re-elected. Tho conductor (Mr H. Guthrie) reported on the band’s activities and stated that the weekly practices were being well attended and a good class of music was being maintained.
