The following motion was carried by the Wellington Diocesan Synod last night: “That this synod urges all Church people to consider in the light of modern events the grave injustice that may bo done by continuing to make the rising generation subject to a system of education that has no reference to God and His moral law ; and further calls upon all people in New Zealand to consider carefully whether a social, political, and economic order that is sound and.just can ho developed by a nation whose main educational system is basically irreligious : and that it be a recommendation to the j standing committee of the General ] Synod to set up a committee to eonj sidcr religious education in State i schools with a view to the fortnula- | tion of a definite plan to bo submitted i to the dioceses before adoption as the | policy of the Church of England in j New Zealand.”
